Tatiana Amaral
Tatiana - Contemporary Artist
Tatiana was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil, a densely populated mega metropolis – one of the biggest in the world. She came to Australia in 2006.
She started to experiment with the use paper to produce her artwork at young age when she started to tear up her father’s books to make collages and paper mache. Unconsciously, Tatiana was trying to destroy the books (her enemies) in part to re-signify her difficulties in reading (dyslexia).
The paper became such a natural media for her and she uses it today to create the “petals” as if it was her brush and her painting to make an abstract work using repetitious patterns.
She loves nature, colours, texture, Tatiana uses it as one of her primary sources of inspiration, but you also can find her present moment emotions and life learning situations present in each individual work.
Recycled materials have long-been a common theme in her work. In keeping with Tatiana´s nature-inspired creations, she worked with cotton waste sourced from the fashion industry and recycled paper. With such salvaged and reconstructed materials, her work symbolizes the regeneration born of nature’s continuous cycles, and seeks to represent the natural beauty she sees in her new Australian home.
